People on both sides of the Atlantic are now able to ring each other up, thanks to the first transatlantic telephone cable.

Switzerland boasts one million telephone subscribers.

Transformation of the last manually operated switchboard in Schuls makes the Swiss network the world's first fully automated telephone network.
