Swisscom IT Services uses Windows 7 for new workplace offerings |

| Swisscom IT Services was the first and only IT service provider in Switzerland to successfully complete the Microsoft Windows 7 First Wave Programme at the end of October 2009. The largest national IT service provider will use the latest technology in future to develop new products for companies that offer greater flexibility and more effective control at lower costs. |

Swisscom IT Services is one of the first companies to use Microsoft Windows 7 in an enterprise environment. The new Microsoft operating system has been automatically distributed to 250 employees since spring 2009 and the IT provider has since been building up extensive experience for business customers.
Windows XP support for some applications is due to expire in 2012. "By then, at the very latest, Swiss companies should have thoroughly reviewed their workplace strategies", explains Reto Wittwer, Product Portfolio Manager at Swisscom IT Services.
Windows 7 in use
From spring 2010, Swisscom IT Services will use Windows 7 as the basis for new offerings from Managed Workplace Services. The focus will be on IT workplaces that are designed to meet the individual needs of the user groups and can be adapted easily and cost-effectively to modern business requirements. The company aims to reduce costs for customers while at the same time improving the range of offerings, in particular in terms of security issues, IT management and seamless integration with virtualisation technologies.
Swisscom IT Services maintains more than 90,000 workplaces and is the largest operator of IT workplaces in Switzerland.
