Our suppliers should ideally operate an ISO 14001 or EMAS-certified environmental management system. If a certified system is not in place, Swisscom would expect an environmentally and socially responsible supplier to provide evidence of the following activities:
- Regular reviewing of legal compliance in the environmental field. Documented work processes and procedures containing environmental aspects (e.g. processes, check lists, work instructions).
- An environmental programme is in place (plan - do - check - act) and there is evidence of its implementation.
- Employees carrying out environment-related activities should be appropriately trained.
- Ongoing improvement in the environmental field is reviewed by means of internal or external audits.
- Supplier management takes account of environmental aspects alongside commercial aspects.
- One person within the company is delegated responsible for all environmental issues.
These points are also used as assessment criteria in Swisscom's supplier assessment system. Compliance is checked as part of "supplier assessment".
