From 25 August 2008, Swisscom is increasing the bandwidths of its Internet access offerings while at the same time lowering prices. For example DSL standard, the most popular package up to now, will be faster, so customers will get noticeably improved performance for their money. Swisscom is also launching a flat-rate Internet service for only CHF 34 a month. Both residential customers and SMEs are set to benefit from the changes.
New offerings for first-time users
Another newly-launched subscription is DSL mini. The flat-rate offering allows download speeds of up to 1,000 kbps and up to 100 kbps for sending data. It is ideal for occasional surfers and costs CHF 34 a month. All existing customers whose download speeds are lower than 1,200 kbps as per 25 August 2008 will automatically get the new DSL mini subscription.
For first-time users, Swisscom is also launching DSL start with no monthly basic fee, and download speeds of up to 300 kbps. It will cost CHF 3 per hour with billing to the nearest second. Customers will be able to get Bluewin TV from Swisscom without paying a monthly DSL subscription charge.
Prices and performance of Swisscom's fastest Internet offering, DSL infinity, remain unchanged at CHF 69 a month. The fastest package, with speeds of up to 20,000 kbps, also includes call charges from and to the Swiss fixed network.
