On 7 September 2006 Swisscom Fixnet will add Bluewin Radio to its portfolio of service offerings. Bluewin Radio covers the majority of Swiss radio stations and can be accessed via the Bluewin portal and now also from IP radios produced by the German multimedia specialist TerraTec Electronic. By extending its radio offering to the Bluewin portal, Swisscom Fixnet will become the biggest broadcaster of radio signals over the Internet in Switzerland.
The Noxon family of WLAN audio players from TerraTec converts radio streams from the Internet for immediate playback. The audio players can also be connected to a home stereo system, allowing you to play audio files or music from your computer archives. In addition to an analogue output, the players are equipped with an integrated loudspeaker or a digital output.
The radios can receive broadcasts from thousands of radio stations around the world as well as from regional stations where VHF reception is not possible. Bluewin Radio Services broadcasts the most popular radio stations in top-quality. The computer need not be switched on when listening to music.
To use the Bluewin Radio Service, users must have a broadband connection; the radio can also be integrated in a home network. Transmission is wireless via WLAN or Ethernet connection. The radios are on sale now in all Swisscom Shops, the Swisscom Online Shop and specialist outlets.
Swisscom Fixnet has been delivering Web radio broadcasts via the Bluewin portal since December 2005. The initial offering, involving 12 contract partners in the German-speaking region of Switzerland, has since been extended to include some 40 radio stations in all three language regions (German, French and Italian). Recently the public radio stations operated by Swiss Radio DRS have been added. All stations can be listened to free of charge at distribution channel through integration in Switzerland's best-known Internet portal.
