Sustainable business practices and long-term responsibility are securely anchored within the corporate structure of Swisscom. One of the principles of our mission statement is: Swisscom assumes responsibility for the environment and society - now and in the future. Swisscom is convinced that its customers will focus more strongly in future on whether a company acts in a sustainable manner:

Swisscom has therefore established the following guiding principles:

  • We act in an efficient and sustainable manner
  • We provide a work environment that supports the personal and professional development of employees by providing them with demanding tasks and the opportunity to take on responsibility
  • We act in a socially responsible manner and are leaders in relation to the promotion of media competence and the protection of minors in the media
  • We support our customers with environmentally friendly behaviour through our products and services and assume a pioneering role in the area of ecology

Areas of activity and specific targets have been derived from this positioning. These include:

Environmentally friendly products and services: ecologically optimised products with low energy consumption; services that produce significantly fewer CO2 emissions.

Operational ecology: The energy and climate policy is aimed at enhancing energy efficiency by reducing energy consumption and replacing environmentally harmful energy sources with clean energy. By 2015, we intend to increase efficiency by 20% in comparison to 2010 and reduce CO2 emissions by 10%.

Access for all: Swisscom firmly believes that technological advancements in the field of new media will only benefit society as a whole if each and every member is able to take advantage of them.

Protection of minors in the media: The children and youth of today are familiar with digital media. Swisscom teaches them how to handle the new possibilities opened up by the virtual world in a discerning and responsible manner and offers tips on how to support young people in their use of new media
