Cordless telephones: Minimum radiation thanks to Ecomode plus
In 2006 Swisscom launched the first Ecomode devices. In the following two years the proportion of cordless landline phones with Ecomode rose from 11% to 47%. Today the proportion of devices with Ecomode used in Switzerland is about 40%.
In the wake of this success, Ecomode was developed further.
In autumn 2008 Swisscom was the world's first telecom provider to launch Ecomode plus, in Switzerland. Models with Ecomode plus currently produce the least radiation of any devices on the market.
No radiation when not in use
Thanks to Ecomode plus, telephones in standby mode do not emit any radiation - no matter how many devices are connected or if they are on the base station. Ecomode plus also minimises the transmission power of the handset during calls without, however, compromising sound quality. Radiation is reduced by up to 80% depending on the distance to the base station. Ecomode plus telephones use 60% less energy than conventional cordless phones.
Packaging and manuals are made of nearly 100% recycled materials.
