Swisscom Ethernet products: Successful certification to MEF 9 and MEF 14
On 20 June 2007 Swisscom’s carrier Ethernet products were certified according to the strict MEF 9 and MEF 14 criteria. They thus fulfil the high requirements of standardisation, quality and performance of carrier Ethernet applications and are internationally recognised. It makes Swisscom Wholesale a leading telecommunications supplier with a complete MEF-certified Ethernet product portfolio.
Carrier Ethernet applications must satisfy much higher demands on technical specifications, equipment and operating service than traditional LAN-based Ethernet applications. The Metro Ethernet Forum defined the appropriate standards, setting a clear, internationally recognised quality benchmark.
The MEF certified the Swisscom Ethernet products on the occasion of the NXTcomm in Chicago
• Carrier Ethernet Service (CES)
• Carrier Optical Service (COS)
• Carrier Ethernet Line Service (CELS)
according to the stringent MEF 9 und MEF 14 criteria. The ELAN, EVPL and EPL services now meet international quality standards.
The MEF 9 certification concerns the standardised Ethernet transmission at the User Network Interface (UNI). The MEF 14 certification covers service performance and traffic management in the network and thus forms an ideal complement to MEF 9.
The MEF certification for our Ethernet products brings you a whole set of advantages: Firstly, you benefit from higher investment protection. Secondly, you can now make decisions on your own equipment purchases faster. Thirdly, you are spared complex product tests of different makes and you benefit from shortened commissioning times.
